Cristine Louise Swanson Wilson (June, 1963) Former teacher. Was inducted into the Iowa Women's Hall of Fame during 1989 ceremonies. Wilson was the first chairwoman of the Iowa Commission on the Status of Women. She fought for passage of antidiscrimination laws in housing, education, credit, and employment. She helped found the Iowa Women's Political Caucus and was the first chairwoman of the Polk County Republican Party Platform Committee. She was attending law school when involved in a tragic traffic accident in 1977 and comatose for a number of years thereafter.
