Robert Marshall Moorehead
Class of June, 1939
Robert Marhall Moorehead has served in the U.S. Air Force and is a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. During his time in the military, Robert was awarded numerous medals and citations, one of which was the Distinguished Flying Cross. Robert was a command pilot with 7,500 flying hours with over 4,900 hours in jet fighters. He was a former commander of the 132nd Air Defense Group and retired as a Brigadier General of the Iowa Air National Guard. In civilian life, he was vice president of Continental Western, a property and casualty insurance company. Mr. Moorehead has also been active in civic and community organizations. He has been a long-time members of the Board of Directors of Employee and Family Services (EFR), serving as president for six years. He has been chairman of the YMCA Athletic Committee. He has been a member of the Johnny Johnson Sports Club and past president of the North High Alumni Association and the North High Alumni Foundation. He has spent many hours spearheading a committee that successfully raised $1.35 million dollars for the North High Stadium complex, with scheduled completion in the fall of 2002.
