North High Hall of Fame Inductee - 1996 Marlene Rene Fisher, Ph.D. Class of 1974
Marlene Fisher has earned a place of prominence in the field of education. She has taught sociology classes at Upper Iowa University, Des Moines Area Community College, Grand View College, and Iowa State Univesity. She has been employed as a social worker, a domestic abuse group facilitator, a resident counselor for the House of Mercy, and a teacher at the Montessori Children's Center. Ms. Fisher has been active in numerous professional and service organizations. She has had numerous articles published in professional journals. In 1990, Ms. Fisher received the Teacher of Excellence Award for her outstanding contributions in the teaching of undergraduate students.
