Charlotte, N.C/1980
Annabelle, Claradell, Rita Rae
June,1941(tornado-March,1942)
Three daughters of Paul and Grace Gergely; Annabelle, Claradell, and Rita Rae playing Monopoly
taken (12/41) three months before the (03/42) Goshen, Indiana tornado claiming lives of Paul and Grace.
After their decease, surviving daughters became wards of Clarence E. Baker, guardian; i.e., Claradell from 1942-1956
Two photos below from Clarence E. Baker personal memorabilia.
eft: May have been around 1944 while 9 and living with Glenn and Ethel Brake. Am wearing a tan suit made by Ethel. The collar made by Aunt Rena Cain Eide and necklace from Rena and Austin Eide when I was about 7. Both items are 66 years old. Photo below taken 11/21/08.
Right: When I was 10/11, Glenn and Ethel Brake insisted I take voice lessons. Photo in a long peach-colored dress made for one of my voice recitals, which were often held at the Hotel Ft. Des Moines. (I had won a KRNT Saturday morning talent contest singing "The Desert Song.")
